Manuka Honey: A Unique Natural Treasure
The precious Manuka honey, derived from the shrub
Leptospermum scoparium, a close relative of the Australian tea tree,
offers much more than just culinary delight. For centuries, New Zealanders have used
it both internally and externally. Today, it is gaining recognition in Europe,
especially through studies conducted at institutions like the TU Dresden.
This organic honey stands out due to its high concentration of
Methylglyoxal (MGO), reaching at least 400 mg/kg.
This compound gives it unique properties, making it highly sought after.
To meet the growing demand, HOYER GmbH works closely with the traditional New Zealand
beekeeping company TranzAlpineHoney NZ Ltd.
Founded in 1910, TranzAlpineHoney has over a century of expertise. Since 1993,
it has adhered to the internationally recognized “biogro” standards
for ecological beekeeping, ensuring certified organic production.
