The mackerel fillets in organic extra virgin olive oil from La Compagnie Bretonne combine the rich flavour of mackerel with a carefully selected organic olive oil that preserves the fish’s natural taste. This balanced recipe highlights both the character of the fish and the fruity notes of the olive oil.
The fillets can be served cold with potatoes, rice or tagliatelle. As a result, they provide a convenient base for quick, balanced and flavourful meals.
This recipe focuses on the harmony between two main ingredients:
Together, they create a simple yet refined seafood specialty.
La Compagnie Bretonne processes the mackerel during the best fishing season to ensure optimal quality. The fish mainly come from fishing areas in the Celtic Sea.
During this period, the fat content of the mackerel is naturally high (at least 20%). Therefore, the fish remains especially tender and flavourful.
Once received at the cannery, the mackerel are cooked in a court-bouillon. After cooling, the fillets are cut by hand using scissors. Finally, the fillets are carefully placed into tins by hand and covered with organic extra virgin olive oil before sealing.
Fishing area: mackerel caught in the North-East Atlantic Ocean (FAO 27).
